The Process

How the process works

Our intake process is straightforward and designed to connect people with the housing and support they need.

Apply or Get Referred

Individuals may complete a housing application directly, or a case manager or agency may submit an agency referral on their behalf.

Eligibility Review

Our team reviews housing needs, income status, documentation, support needs, availability, safety factors, and program fit. Eligibility is reviewed case by case.

Housing Stability Plan

Approved residents receive structured housing support, resource navigation, life skills support, and a personalized stability plan.

Resident eligibility

NWISLI welcomes applications from a broad range of individuals. Eligibility is reviewed case by case.

Basic Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Able to live independently or with minimal assistance
  • Willing to follow house rules
  • Have verifiable income, benefits, housing assistance, or complete zero income certification when applicable
  • Background screening authorization may be required

We welcome agency referrals from organizations serving individuals who need safe housing, stabilization support, and structured living. Referral partners can submit applicant information securely through our agency referral form.

Program Expectations

Residents are expected to:

  • Pay rent on time when applicable
  • Maintain clean living areas
  • Participate in housing stability meetings
  • Respect fellow residents
  • Follow all property rules
  • Report maintenance issues promptly
  • Work toward income, employment, education, or long-term housing stability

Safety & Community Standards

NWISLI maintains a safe, respectful environment for all residents. The following are not permitted:

  • Violence or threats of any kind
  • Theft or property damage
  • Weapons on the property
  • Serious criminal activity
  • Illegal drug activity on the property
  • Repeated lease or program violations
Housing First principles may be used to support stability while maintaining community safety.
